Now is the time for the American people to flex their muscles on Capitol Hill and demand that our Washington Politicians adhere to Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution! We will not accept their excuses for failing to sign the discharge petition, or the use of coercion and intimidation tactics implemented against some co-sponsors by Speaker Pelosi and her cronies.

Democrats from across the country should rally around Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC) one of the bill's original sponsors. Only 185 Congressmen have added their names to the discharge petition in hopes of moving the SAVE Act to a vote, but many Democrats are still holding out for fear of reprisals by the House Democratic Leadership and the Open Borders Lobby. Speaker Pelosi and her colleagues oppose a vote on the SAVE ACT because it will undermine their efforts to pass their new 5 year Amnesty plan. Media reports indicate that they have been secretly peddling their amnesty bill in the smoke-filled rooms of Congress in order to vote on the amnesty bill later this Spring.

PHOENIX, AZ — The Minuteman Civil Defense
Corps (MCDC) is pleased to announce their semi-annual Spring border watch
operation entitled “Operation Sovereignty,” scheduled from 28 March through 31
April 2008 in Arizona, California, Texas and Washington State. It shall serve to
demonstrate citizen support and appreciation for the work conducted by agents of
the U.S. Border Patrol, who are excessively exposed to border and crime cartel
violence—especially since the United States Congress purposefully withdrew the
much needed funding for the physical border fence that President Bush promised
when he signed the Secure Fence Act in October 2006.
“Minutemen volunteers continue our mission of vigilant support, watching, and
reporting along our largely unprotected borders, particularly during periods of
increased border incursions,” states MCDC President and Founder Chris Simcox.
“The Border Patrol receives an endless supply of empty political rhetoric and
little else from Washington lawmakers who refuse to set the proper priorities or
provide the necessary resources to secure our nation’s porous borders—preferring
to rely upon flawed ‘virtual’ fence technology, rather than deter the invasion
of over 2,000 illegal entrants daily."
Current federal policies already raise concerns that our broken borders serve
as an open pathway to an increasing illegal alien migrant invasion. MCDC
believes that the media’s “no illegal immigrant story here” spin for January’s
violent murder of U.S. Border Agent Luis Aguilar, the terrorist plot against
Fort Huachuca, attempted systematic decapitations of Border Patrol agents by
desert booby-traps, and reluctance by the federal government to crackdown and
enforce immigration laws, will exacerbate a worsening situation of criminal
cartel border incursions and “coyote” migrant-trafficking violence, which has
been fed by irresponsible “amnesty-is-coming” talk from the Bush Administration
and liberals in Congress.
The results of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps
border watch for illegal alien activities include:

Unlike the U.S. government, the Minutemen have already been implementing a
plan for border security that is more than “virtual” and that includes an
effective material barrier—by volunteering their time, energy and personal funds
in order to build highly effective demonstration security fencing on private
ranch land, expensed through private donations obtained from thousands of
citizens nationally. To educate the public and force federal government
attention to the realities of border security, Minuteman volunteers have taken
steps to build this fence along the border, so that it may utilize state of the
art technology with the fiber optic mesh produced by FOMGuard, USA, also
currently in use on U.S. military installations, the DMZ in Korea and the West
Bank in Israel, and recently featured in National Geographic magazine.
Simcox concludes, “It is our duty to see that the withdrawal of the National
Guard presence and lack of a full-border physical fence does not send the wrong
message to international drug dealers, career criminals and terrorists with
designs upon America—there is no ‘Welcome Mat’ out for the lawless here, as long
as the Minutemen continue their patriotic mission. By monitoring the borders and
building effective and affordable fencing, MCDC patriots shall serve as a
deterrent to illegal alien lawbreakers and demonstrate effective border security
to the feds—because the provision of true border security for America is the
only way to resolve this crisis.”
The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful,
law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders
